Bob Lutz, GM’s VP who famously doesn’t believe in global warming let the Detroit Auto Show know that he owns and drives a Vectrix electric scooter. Of course, I don’t have a picture of him on it. Of course, Lutz also drives a Russian jet plane…so I don’t think we’ll call him an EcoGeek just yet.

During the release of the Cadillac Converj, Lutz told the audience that he once accidentally ran out of juice 12 miles from his house and needed to have a friend come and pick him up in a “very big pickup.”

All of this, of course, leads the the point, which is that range-extended electric vehicles don’t have these range limitations since, if you ever run out of juice, you just need to go get more gas.

The Vectrix, of course, is a wonderful vehicle, and I’m glad to hear that Lutz is still trying out electric options…despite his companies sour treatment of the EV1.
